Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct Introduction

At Stoked Leagues, we’re committed to creating a competitive, respectful, and community-driven soccer experience. The values of integrity, inclusivity, fair play, mutual respect, and sportsmanship guide our league. We strive to provide an environment where all players, staff, and supporters feel welcomed and valued.

Stoked Leagues promotes equal opportunity and stands firmly against any form of discrimination. We expect all participants—players, team organizers, referees, spectators, and league officials—to uphold the principles that define our culture on and off the field.

This Code of Conduct outlines simple but important expectations to ensure that every game day is safe, enjoyable, and positive for everyone involved in Stoked Leagues.

General Principles

Stoked Leagues participants include all registered players, referees, league staff, event partners, and members of the public attending as spectators.

All participants are expected to uphold the values of the league and are encouraged to:

  • Demonstrate sportsmanship at all times—discouraging foul play, unsporting behaviour, and violence or aggression on and off the field.
  • Show respect and inclusivity by protecting the rights, dignity, and worth of every person, regardless of gender, ability, sexual orientation, age, race, ethnic origin, colour, or religion.
  • Refrain from any form of harassment, including conduct, comments, or actions during league events that a reasonable person would view as offensive, intimidating, demeaning, or harmful. This includes gestures or remarks that could cause personal humiliation or emotional harm.
  • Avoid all forms of sexual harassment, including unwelcome advances, inappropriate comments, or any conduct of a sexual nature that creates an uncomfortable or hostile environment.
  • Use social media responsibly. Online behaviour that includes cyberbullying, harassment, or demeaning comments—public or private—is taken seriously and is considered a breach of this Code of Conduct.
  • Act with honesty, integrity, and fairness in all situations related to Stoked Leagues. Transparency and accountability are expected from all participants, whether on the field, in administrative roles, or when representing the league publicly.

The Stoked Leagues Code of Conduct guides our expectations and governs all disciplinary matters related to player and participant behaviour.

Code of Conduct – Participant

As a participant in Stoked Leagues, you are expected to uphold the values of sportsmanship, respect, and community at all times. By joining the league, you agree to the following:

  • Always respect the referee’s decisions—their role is to ensure a fair and safe game for everyone.
  • Never engage in foul play or actions that could endanger others.
  • Honour both the spirit and the rules of the game. Compete with integrity and uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship.
  • Avoid all disrespectful behaviour, including profanity, taunting, obscene gestures, or any comments or actions that demean other players, officials, or fans.
  • Maintain all facilities and equipment provided to you. Carefully treat fields, benches, and shared spaces.
  • Show respect to all participants and league officials, regardless of the situation or the match’s outcome.
  • Stay off the field when you are not actively playing. Do not interfere with play or disrupt matches.
  • Leave locker rooms and player areas clean and trash-free at the end of each game.
  • Do not bring or use illegal or banned substances at the facility, including alcohol and recreational drugs.
  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted at any Stoked Leagues venue.
  • Harassment, aggressive behaviour, or unsportsmanlike conduct of any kind will not be tolerated.

Failure to follow this code may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from the league.

Code of Conduct – Game Official

As a game official representing Stoked Leagues, your role is vital to ensuring fairness, safety, and professionalism on the field. Officials are expected to:

  • Remain impartial and consistent at all times, applying the rules objectively and courteously.
  • Prioritize the safety and well-being of all players by actively monitoring the match to reduce dangerous play, whether intentional or not.
  • Take full responsibility for all decisions made during the match, and carry out your duties with integrity.
  • Avoid any form of inappropriate verbal interaction with players, coaches, or spectators during the game.
  • Condemn all unsportsmanlike conduct, including foul play, intentional rule violations, or disrespectful behaviour from any participant.

Upholding these principles helps maintain Stoked Leagues’ integrity and professionalism, ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved.

Code of Conduct – Spectator / Parent

Stoked Leagues encourages a supportive and respectful atmosphere for all players, officials, and fans. As a spectator or parent, you are expected to:

  • Condemn violence and illegal behaviour from anyone involved—players, coaches, officials, parents, or other fans.
  • Respect the referee’s decisions at all times. Avoid arguing with or complaining about calls during or after the match.
  • Refrain from using unsportsmanlike language, harassment, or aggressive behaviour.
  • Encourage effort over perfection. Never ridicule a player for making a mistake.
  • Cheer positively and respectfully. Support your team without taunting opponents, other fans, or referees.

We aim to create a welcoming environment for everyone involved in our league, and we rely on your support to make that possible.

Code of Conduct – Stoked Leagues Staff

As representatives of Stoked Leagues, our staff members are expected to lead by example and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and fairness. All staff must:

  • Conduct themselves openly, respectfully, and professionally, always acting in the league’s best interests.
  • Demonstrate composure and professionalism appropriate to their roles and responsibilities.
  • Foster an environment where ideas and feedback can be shared openly and constructively.
  • Respect and uphold all league policies, rules, and structures in their day-to-day work.
  • Embody the values of sportsmanship, inclusivity, and leadership, setting a tone for all participants to follow.

By modelling these values, our staff helps shape the strong, community-focused culture that defines Stoked Leagues.

Fair Play Policy – Stoked Leagues

Stoked Leagues aims to provide a safe, inclusive, and high-quality soccer experience for all players—regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs.

By participating in Stoked Leagues, all individuals agree to the following:

  • Treat everyone—players, referees, spectators, and staff—with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Zero tolerance for any verbal or physical behaviour that targets or discriminates against individuals based on their race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs.
  • Compete with honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship, upholding the spirit of the game through fair play.

Our community is built on respect, inclusion, and love of the game. Every player is responsible for upholding these values, on and off the pitch.

Refund Policy – Stoked Leagues

Registration is a commitment. League spots are limited and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. A place is only secured when you complete online registration, including full payment. By registering, you are committing to a full season of weekly games, which is essential to the league’s success and fairness.

Once registered, we immediately begin preparing for your participation. This includes:

  • Ordering a custom jersey and merchandise specific to your registration,
  • Booking field time based on final team numbers,
  • Purchasing league insurance, and
  • Closing registration to other interested teams or individuals.

Due to the nature of these upfront commitments, all registrations are final and non-refundable.

Refunds will only be issued if:

  • A league cannot run due to low registration; in this case, players will be offered a transfer to another league or a refund upon request.

We do not refund players suspended or removed from the league for violating the Code of Conduct or for disciplinary reasons.

By completing your registration, you acknowledge and agree to this policy.

Forfeits and Default Policy – Stoked Leagues

At Stoked Leagues, registration is a commitment—not just to your team but to every player and opponent in the league. Forfeits significantly disrupt the season for other teams and diminish the experience we work hard to deliver. We ask all teams to arrive, play hard, and respect the commitments of others.

Captain Responsibilities

Team captains are responsible for confirming their team’s attendance each week. If a game must be forfeited, the captain must notify Stoked Leagues as early as possible so we can make necessary adjustments.

At Stoked Leagues, the safety of our players and staff is our top priority. In the event of inclement weather or facility-related conflicts, we follow the guidelines below to ensure clear communication and fair decision-making:

Cancellations & Delays

  • If a game is cancelled due to severe weather or facility conflicts, team captains and players will be notified via email as soon as possible.
  • In the case of lightning, all games will be immediately halted for 30 minutes. If no additional lightning is observed during this period, play may resume.
  • Games may be delayed or postponed depending on the development of the weather. Players should be prepared to wait on-site if it is safe.

  • If field conditions are deemed playable, games will proceed even in light rain.
  • Due to the unpredictable nature of the weather, the length of seasons and the total number of games played may be impacted by outdoor leagues.
